Genetic engineering laboratories must be equipped so that surfaces are easy to clean and disinfect.

Dr. Annabel Höpfner

Therefore, take a close look at the furniture regularly and replace some of it if necessary.

Often a classic during inspections... The genetic engineering laboratory is in top condition, but the laboratory furniture is a bit dated. In some places, there are cracks in the surfaces, or some of the coating is missing. Underneath, in most cases, there is an open-pored material that is neither clean nor disinfectable. Understandably, it happens all too often in everyday laboratory life that you keep everything in order, but these small flaws simply don't catch your eye. Therefore, make sure to always check all laboratory furniture for damage, be it tables, cabinets, shelves, or even chairs or stools. All surfaces in the genetic engineering laboratory must have an intact surface that is easy to clean and disinfect. Of course, you must also ensure that the surface is resistant to cleaning and disinfectant agents.
