No subsequent changes to Form Z

Dr. Petra Kauch

If subsequent changes to the entries made in Form Z become necessary during genetic engineering work, these must be indicated accordingly.

Firstly, Section 3 Paragraph 1 of the GenTAufzV stipulates that records may not be made illegible by deletion or in any other way. No changes may be made that make it unclear whether they were made in the original entry or at a later date. This means that the records cannot be subsequently altered. If an error was made in the original entry, the original entry must be deleted and a new entry made afterwards. This change must be marked with the initials of the person making the changes and a date so that it can be traced who made the changes. When deleting the old entry, care must be taken to ensure that the original entry does not become illegible. In addition to this legal obligation in Section 3 Paragraph 1 GenTAufzV, it must also be taken into account that a Form Z, once signed and entered by the operator, project manager or a person designated by him, constitutes a document that may not be changed later, unless this simultaneously constitutes a criminal offense of forgery (Sections 267 et seq. of the German Criminal Code).
